The History of Dreyfuss & Co Watches

Today, Dreyfuss & Co are renowned Swiss watchmakers. Known for their high standard in terms of material quality and timekeeping accuracy and precision. They represent a return to traditional, Swiss quality watchmaking at a time where the market is dominated by fashion and style watches. Dreyfuss & Co watch ranges are based on significant years in the Dreyfuss timeline.

  • René Dreyfuss was born in 1890 in the quaint Swiss town of Chaux De Fonds.

A range of stainless steel and PVD gold plated ladies and gent’s quartz models. Possesses a traditional round bezel and watch face.

  • In 1924, following a long and fulfilled courtship, he married his childhood sweetheart, Georgette Weil. Shortly thereafter came the birth of their first child, Janine.

Stainless steel and PVD gold played ladies and gents quartz models with a rectangular bezel with slightly curved edges and watch face. Numbers are in roman numerals, giving the watch an air of authority. Bracelets can either be metal bands or material straps.

  • The following year, in 1925, René set up what would later become Dreyfuss & Co as “Dreyfuss Fils”, a watch company.

A range of beautifully classic gents’ timepieces. With a solid round bezel around a face on the smaller side of the spectrum, these watches benefit from an automatic movement. The DSG 000030/21 and DSG 00031/21 both feature a hinged case back, allowing the intricacy and technical beauty of the movement to be displayed.

  • In 1946, René’s daughter Janine marries Christophe in the stunning Swiss Alps.

A range of stainless steel and PVD gold plated ladies and gent’s quartz models with two step dial.

  • In 1953, after many years of fostering a strong passion for timepieces, René’s collection of Neuchâteloise clocks becomes a museum attraction.

The Dreyfuss & Co 1953 watch is made from PVD rose plated stainless steel and is powered by a Swiss 25 jewel automatic movement. Available with a variety of complications, including a date function and sidereal time. This watch also features a hinged back case for the display of the movement.

  • In 1974, René retires from the industry. He does, however, continue to visit the office on a near daily basis to offer his expert horological advice.

Similar in nature to Stainless steel and PVD gold played ladies and gents quartz models with a rectangular bezel and watch face. Numbers can again roman numerals. Bracelets can either be metal bands or material straps.

  • In 2005, René’s descendant Robert Dreyfuss officially launches the Dreyfuss & Co brand, inspired by René.

Although there is no 2005 collection, it would be improper to have the origin of Dreyfuss & Co without the founding of the modern implementation of “Dreyfuss Fils”.

Handmade, Swiss Quality

Horology is both a science and an art. Like all art, it cannot be hurried. Master watchmakers take years working on individual projects, producing some of the most beautiful and intricate devices available in any area of technology. Methodical and precise, watch making must be rigorous and measured to ensure conformation to the highest of standards.

By crafting each piece by hand, a watchmaker guarantees the standard of quality across a range of watches, as well as ensuring each timepiece is as individual as the wrist upon which it is worn. Each Dreyfuss & Co watch is protected and showcased in an elegant, handmade presentation cabinet so that it can be enjoyed in perpetuity. With proper care and watch servicing, a Dreyfuss & Co watch can be a hereditary item, enjoyed through the generations.

Skills and techniques developed over several iterations of watchmakers are handed down through each generation of watchmakers. Closely guarded to ensure the originality of the Dreyfuss & Co brand, it is the attention to detail and quality of watch that has ensured that the legacy created by René Dreyfuss has stood the test of time. Swiss timepieces are the finest in the world; within the mountain valleys dynasties and doyens have been created. René ensured that Dreyfuss & Co would be part of this watchmaking elite.

The passion for handmade, Swiss quality watches has never ceased within Dreyfuss & Co. The commitment to quality and individuality is shown on the reverse of each case, where a unique serial number can be found.
