Each watch is designed to resist impact but occasions where it may come under excess stress should be avoided. This is because shock may damage its appearance and cause wear in the delicate inner components. Magnetic fields can have a detrimental impact on your watch, if you leave your watch near strong magnetic fields such as speakers, refrigerators and magnets it may affect its performance. It’s also recommended that your watch is taken off when entering a body scanner at the airport. A quartz watch will only be affected temporarily by magnetic fields and will work again once out of range. However, a mechanical watch may stop working completely so should always be kept at least 5cm away from magnetic devices.


To look after your watch you should;

  • Keep away from extreme temperatures, a sharp change in temperature can cause condensation underneath the crystal.
  • Keep out of strong direct sunlight; this can damage the movement if exposed to temperatures above 60 degrees.
  • Chemical products may corrode the water resistant gaskets and damage the aesthetic of your timepiece.
  • Sand has small minerals in it which can scratch the sapphire crystal or steel bracelet on your watch.
  • If you’re going to be near water ensure the crown is fully pushed in and avoid the leather strap touching water as this may damage it. We offer watch strap replacement should damage occur. We can offer  crown replacement if there is any damage sustained.
  • If you have any doubts about the water-resistance of your watch, simply clean it with a soft brush.
