The history of Girard-Perregaux watches
In 1751 Jean-François Bautte of Geneva showed his first watch. In 1906 this watchmaking factory was purchased by 1906 by Constant Girard-Perregaux. The manufacturing of all parts was done in house. Although he knew that the movements were a mechanical part of the watch, he put them on the show, and this became his signature.
Knowing the importance of being an internationally recognised brand, Girard-Perregaux sent his brothers-in-law to Japan in 1859 and in 1865 Buenos Aires.
Throughout the centuries the brand continued to grow and develop. In 1965 the world’s r high-frequency mechanical self-winding movement, the Gyromatic HF, was produced.
The research and development into these watches continue today.
